In recent research it was reported that over 120,000 children were in foster care waiting for adoption. California has the most children waiting for adoption of all the US state at over 18,000. Texas was 2nd with over 12,000 children waiting for a forever home. Indiana had just over 3,300 children waiting to be adopted by a forever family.
